When considering codes, our minds often drift to military secret codes, eerie letters from stalkers or serial killers, or playful encrypted messages exchanged among friends or admirers. However, the reality is that cryptography has a rich history spanning thousands of years, utilized by civilizations such as the Egyptians, Greeks, and many others.

During World War II, Germany employed an encrypted messaging device known as Enigma.

In the 1700s, Thomas Jefferson designed a wheel cipher that saw little use.
